The people are very much fascinated towards Gujarat Government headed by Narendra Modi, after reading these serial of articles on Gujarat. Still a few critics have recorded their criticisms by post, personally and through on line. Let us analyze some of the online criticisms at the first hand.
“If Cho is singing the song of Modi, Idaya plays a matching second fiddle to it”. Modi’s uncompromising religious attitude and fake encounters are the black spots. Only the other side of Modi is propagated. Readers are cheated – it is view of another.
“Gujarat is not so rosy and Thugluk doesn’t need to paint on it. I live in Baroda only. Rain water is stagnant here” – This is from a reader of Face book Thugluk fans Club.
There is bribe and corruption in Gujarat too. I can’t accept lowering the prestige of Tamilnadu – says an industrialist who lived in Gujarat for some time.
A lot of articles have been written in magazines and web sites about the excellence of Gujarat administration. Thugluk too wanted to write articles on Gujarat after visiting it and finding out the developments it has achieved. Gujarat received awards for its performance worldwide and from the Central Government though the opposite party holds the reign. The name and fame of Gujarat has reached its zenith, we, the representatives of Thugluk have decided to visit Gujarat. We marveled how NaMo could achieve what other states could not do. We collected the news only from that angle.
We are not fact finding team. We neither investigated Godhra Kand (incident) nor probed the encounters to find out whether it is true or fake. The developments in Gujarat and how it has made them possible are our aim of visit. I collected the views of Christian and Muslim people on Narendra Modi for PM 2014.
The next allegation is that I am painting extra colors on Gujarat to boost up its image. I talked about drainage facility in Eshwarpura village comparing with Singapore. The reader is finding fault with such a comparison. This is an innovation attempted in a village in India. Gajarat takes pains to bring such an innovation in its villages and towns. Not only in Gujarat but in Ahmadabad and in Surat too the stagnation of water may be seen. Gujarat is taking efforts to drain the stagnant water. Thugluk appreciates such an attempt by the Government of Gujarat.
To argue for the argument’s sake, one can say that two years before in Singapore underground drainage were blocked on heavy rainy days, and flood water inundated buildings. Hence Singapore is not worthy of praise.
“In Gujarat too bribe and corruption exist. Kidnapping happens. Urinating at the edge of the roads, spitting pan parak publicly can be noted. Apart from these factors, other issues are lesser in number in Gujarat. Within five years of administration, corruption charges are initiated on those who run the Government. Narendra Modi is ruling Gujarat more than 10 years. But he is not involved in any scandals or facing allegation that he has amazed wealth excessively. When Chief Minister is clean, Ministers and I.A.S Officers are bound to be clean. When Officers on top are devoid of corruption, next rank officers give up their corruption. Thus in the past 10 years corruption and scandals have dwindled to a minimum. It will further go down”, says an I.A.S officer.
In these serial of articles no attempt is taken to degrade Tamil Nadu. The tone may be despondent as our state Tamil Nadu also should develop like Gujarat. After 5 days visit in Gujarat, Drinking Water department wanted us to record our opinion on their guest book. I wrote, “ I do n’t have the opportunity to live in Gujarat. In our state we are not blessed with a Government like Gujarat. I bid farewell to Gujarat with jealousy.” It is true that I was jealous of Gujarat and wished if Tamil Nadu could change like that? But never did I disgrace Tamil Nadu in the articles. I have mentioned about online developments in Tamil Nadu and its 3rd place in the survey conducted by ‘The Sunday’. I was not asked to advocate Modi or to create false image for him and his administration by the editor of Thugluk. I too did not have any intention of promoting Modi’s image. I wrote what I saw and wondered in a natural way.
My friend Shamir was born and raised in Madurai. Now he is married and settled in Ahmadabad. His company is manufacturing road laying machines. He is of the opinion that life here is secured and protective. C.M is the Chief Minister in other states. But here in Gujarat it means Common Man. This is the explanation given by Narendra Modi. He has understood the needs and expectations of the common man. Further nobody here thinks that he is unreachable because of his simplicity. If a copy of the petition reaches C.M, immediately it is processed and finalized.
If a road is to be widened, people hesitate to provide their place to Government in Tamil Nadu and in other states. How many struggles will be there? How many suits will be filed in the court? But in Gujarat throughout the year the Government acquires places and extension of services are going on. People have immense confidence in Narendra. Only when there is no other option, he acquires private property for the Government. NaMo’s Government settles the compensation as the people expect. This understanding between Modi and People is a great plus point.
Certain pockets in Ahmadabad are exclusive Muslim areas. Hindus were reluctant to visit those places. They used to be called with the nick name ‘Pakistan’. The Muslims used to satisfy their needs within their area. Only a few will come out to do business. This situation was prevalent 10 years before. Now in those areas too great road facilities and B.R.D.S bus facilities are available. All can travel without any fear casually. The attitude of enmity is neither with Muslims nor with Hindus. All live in harmony in a natural way – says Shamir. An industrialist says like this. Let us find out what roadside merchants and the people who live in huts of Poramboke say about Modi. What was the opinion of Christians and Muslims in Gujarat?
